LISBON, Portugal–(DWPR)–Agility Robotics, creator of the leading bipedal Mobile Manipulation Robot (MMR) DigitⓇ, announced at Web Summit that Schaeffler has made a minority investment in the company. Schaeffler also signed an agreement to integrate DigitⓇ humanoid robots into its global network of 100 plants by 2030, marking a significant step in transforming its manufacturing operations with innovative robotics.
Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler AG, stated, “In disruptive times, implementing innovative manufacturing solutions is crucial for success. Humanoids play an important role in our future, and we see significant potential to deploy them across our global plant network. We look forward to collaborating with Agility Robotics to accelerate our activities in this field.”
Earlier this year, Agility Robotics became the first company to formally deploy humanoid robots commercially through a multi-year agreement with GXO, the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider. This partnership marked the industry’s first Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) deployment of humanoid robots.
Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Schaeffler as a customer and investor. Our mission is to develop humanoid robots that work cooperatively with humans, moving beyond safety cages to transform manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing operations. In the next 24 months, we aim to deliver a safe humanoid robot capable of working alongside people.”
